Shapewear, tight jeans and bras that are too small
Sometimes, the right shapewear can help any piece of clothing look stunning, but when it’s too tight, you can be opening yourself up for many different problems such as yeast infections, bladder infections and even blood clots.
When it comes to bras that are too tight, you might be opening yourself up to issues like skin problems, fungal infections and, if you’re pregnant, infected mammary glands – aka: mastitis. So, it makes sense to make sure that you’re properly fitted for bras that aren’t too constricting. Even the perkiest undergarments should fit nicely and be comfortable.
Oh, and if you think that stomach aches are the only problem you might be facing with low rise jeans that are too tight, you’re likely wrong. When your jeans are too tight, they compress the Lateral Femoral Cutaneous nerve, and that can cause you to experience numbness in the outer part of the thigh.
High heels and flip flops
High heels can cause serious problems, and while those towering six inch heels are gorgeous, they can cause many different types of problems, including posture issues, bunions, hammer toes and even supinated – or out turned feet. Long term use of heels can cause the S curve of the spine to become disrupted and even cause the neck to become displaced.
If you think those heels are harmful, you should consider what your flip flops are doing to your feet. Even though they are cute and comfortable, many pairs of them have absolutely no cushioning and support, and that can cause everything from calluses and blisters on the bottoms of the feet, but when a flip flop turns it’s own way, you could potentially fall, sprain or even break the ankle or foot.
Wet bathing suits – and…
Now we get to the topic that many people would rather not discuss, but there are many things that can affect whether or not you suffer from a yeast infection. Take that wet bathing suit or sweaty workout clothes. That extra moisture gets warm, and that’s the perfect environment for yeast to grow.
Hanging at the beach? When you’re out of the water, make sure you give your suit plenty of time to dry before you toss on those shorts, and get out of your sweaty gym clothes as soon as you’re done with your workout, to prevent such issues.
And when it comes to undergarments, thongs might look cute, but they tend to rub in the wrong places and restrict air flow. This can cause yeast infection problems too. And, save the thongs for special occasions only, because they can also cause bacteria to travel from one part of the body to the other – and that can cause urinary tract infections.
